Overseas Workers Voice Uganda ( OWVU) is a non profit organization dedicated to protecting the rights and welfare of Ugandan migrant workers. We work tirelessly to eradicate human trafficking, promote safe migration, empower communities and advocate for policies that support the dignity and well being of migrant workers.

Our story

Due to the severe abuses faced by Ugandans working abroad, especially domestic workers in the middle East , including physical violence, no payment salaries and even death , OWVU was founded to address these challenges and ensure migrant workers are treated with dignity and respect.

To eradicate human trafficking, advocate for justice, protect lives and create a safer world for all.

To tackle and address social and community factors driving Gender based violence, to empower young adults in communities to have necessary information on human trafficking and advocate for top down policies that eradicate domestic and gender based violence.

Advocacy Services

Our Advocacy Services provide effective advocacy for migrant workers, based on years of experience and expertise.
Lobbying for migrant worker rights Focusing on fair treatment Promoting equal opportunities.

Repatriation: OWVU assists migrant workers in reintegrating into Ugandan society upon their return. This includes providing support for sustainable reintegration, economic skills training, and psychosocial assistance to help workers adapt back to their communities.

Legal Support

Legal Support: OWVU provides legal support and advocacy for migrant workers, pushing for policies that protect their rights and dignity. They work closely with governments, non-governmental organizations, and international bodies to improve the safety of the migration process and prevent human trafficking.
OWVU collaborates with international lawyers and organizations to encounter and register unfair employers conducts and assistance with ours clients with registration and assistance in opening up private accounts in collaboration with trusted banks.

Community Empowerment:

OWVU empowers migrant worker communities through sensitization, training, and capacity-building programs. They aim to enhance the economic status of migrant workers and their families by facilitating savings and credit schemes, promoting informed decision-making, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders.
